Location: GEISINGER BLOOMSBURG HOSPITAL Work Schedule: Rotation Work Type: FLEX Hiring Manager: Jill Zahay JOB SUMMARY: | Provides clinical support for all aspects of the patient’s treatment within the Center of Excellence Addiction Clinic. Serves in an expanded role to assess patient need; provide nursing care and; participate in research; educate patients and addiction care team. Will serve as a key member of Geisinger’s addiction medicine team addressing the ongoing opioid epidemic.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.
Works under the administrative direction of the Operations Manager for Addition Medicine | | MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: | A. Patient Care *1. Assesses patients need for addiction services prior to and during a physician office visit.
*2. Performs and documents assessment of patients seen in the COE clinic under the direction of the Addiction Specialist physician. This includes collecting lab and drug screen specimens and other nursing functions.
*3. Educates patients and families regarding substance use disorders.
*4. Educates patients who are diagnosed with substance use disorder and their families regarding treatment options.
*5. Provides emotional support to patients and families.
*6. Provides patients with educational materials relevant to substance use disorder treatment.
*7. Coordinates patient’s appointments with other departments that are necessary for the multidisciplinary treatment of addiction.
*8. Acts as point of contact for patient and family members as required.
*9. Makes referrals to behavioral health services and follows up with care management team as necessary to update plan of care.
*13. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.
B. Research/Data Collection
*1. Works with research and the Center of Excellence team to collect necessary data
*2. Maintains files for regulatory compliance.
*3. Assists with coordination of on-site audits
C. Other Duties and Responsibilities
*1. Assists the Operations Manager in the development and maintenance of the Center of Excellence.
*2. Attends all Center of Excellence related conferences
*3. Coordinates multidisciplinary addiction meetings and ensures requirements for confidentiality are met.
*4. Acts as a resource to the community and nursing department for education regarding substance use disorder detection, and treatment.
*5. Participation in other addiction services initiatives as indicated.

Demonstrates skill in phlebotomy competencies | | EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: | Current PA practical nurse license or eligible for licensure required.
Qualified to pass medications preferred.
