Description Provides primary care services to neonates in collaboration with physicians following established standards and practices in accordance with APN practice with the Board of Nurse Examiners. The NICU is a 33-bed, Level II newborn unit and is comprised of 18-bed Regular/Admission, eight-bed Intermediate Care, six-bed Intensive Care and one Intensive Care Isolation bed. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which accepts babies born as early as 24 weeks, is a 31-bed Level IIIa unit. The NICU has earned quality outcomes based on data through the Vermont Oxford database. A part of the NICU is a Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit (NIMC), which provides a step down level of care as our babies grow and prepare to go home. The purpose of the units is to provide a family-centered approach to quality neonatal services, providing the opportunity to make the experience a total family affair and to provide quality, economical, safe care to the well and sick neonates through progressive technology combined with highly skilled, caring nursing services. Requirements Current RN license in the State of Texas required NCC certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
