The Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin (RHOW) is a state-of-the-art, 40-bed Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Hospital that is dedicated to restoring lives. We are a result of the joint venture/partnership between ProHealth Care and Kindred Healthcare to meet the growing rehabilitation needs of the region.
RHOW specializes in treating patients with many diagnoses, including, but not limited to, stroke, brain injury, amputation, neurological and cardiac disorders. In 2016, RHOW has received Joint Commission Disease Specific Specialization in Stroke and Amputee Rehabilitation.
Responsible for successful maintenance of patient records and organizational and administrative operation of the Health Information Management Department. Primary focus is on coding of all patient records and utilizing EPIC Meditech and UDS. Serves as resource for facility regarding medical record content, HIPAA and compliance with regulatory requirements. Assures availability, and security, of the medical records at all times.
Abstracting of chart information to approriately assign inpatient facility coding in compliance with CMS standards.
Query of physicians to verify appropriate diagnoses of case upon admission and discharge.
Executes problem identification, data gathering and implementation of actions that are in the best interest of the department and its mission, values and philosophy.
Manages the department in a cost-effective manner by utilizing current materials management techniques, maximizing human resources and continuously reevaluating the manner in which services are delivered.
Establishes policies and procedures necessary for effective and efficient systems and management of health information.
Establishes and monitors standards of performance within department and ensures that standards are consistently met.
Improves employee performance through ongoing counseling, coaching, delegation and feedback practices.
Uses accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication.
Attends hospital-wide meetings to maintain two-way communication, problem solving and information passing.
Interacts positively with members of the medical staff by cultivating liaisons and promoting interaction.
Is responsible for maintaining performance improvement activities in the department
Is responsible for educating staff on HIPAA.
May represents the hospital in court cases involving subpoena of medical or clinical records.Enforces suspension policy for delinquent medical records.
Degree as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from an accredited school; or RHIT
Minimum of three years of previous hospital experience in all aspects of health information management functions.
Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and state regulations for hospitals.
Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
