Is responsible for the delivery of patient care on patient care units that provide cardiac monitoring. Care is delivered utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the patient care plan and physician's treatment plan. Nursing care considers physical, psychosocial, cultural, age, and spiritual factors related to patient care in the population served. Functions as a coordinator, facilitator, and provider of patient care during identified work time. Completes annual mandatory training classes and competency testing. Is responsible for directing the work of professional and non-professional nursing personnel. Client and family interactions occur in accordance with the customer service standards of the institution.
Education and/or Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current licensure, or temporary permit, to practice in the state of Pennsylvania.
ACLS certification within six months of hire.
One (1) year of medical-surgical nursing experience preferred or senior clinical rotation on a cardiac monitoring unit.
PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required.
For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date with BSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.
For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.
For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.
