Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care in accordance with facility and departmental policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice. Provides routine and specialized nursing care, acting as a team leader for psychiatric patients. Assist in the admission process as a single point of entry to CHRISTUS St. Patrick Behavioral Health Services. Assesses the needs of walk-in and telephone callers and ensures their referral to the service or resource to best address those needs. Responds to telephone and face-to-face inquires from persons seeking mental health care information about mental health-related services. Facilitates the provision of patient care by performing specific nursing tasks in accordance with organizational and regulatory compliance.
Graduate of an accredited RN program; excellent written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of scope and role of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Technician, Patient Care Technician and Unit Clerk
Two (2) years experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
A license to practice as a Registered Nurse within the state of Louisiana; Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support and recertified every two years; Current CPI training or completion within 90 days of employment with annual recertification
