Provides a variety of clinical and administrative support-type duties in the day-to-day support of the outpatient clinic. Functioning in the spirit of
teamwork, the Medical Office Assistant (MOA) is responsible for front line office support to the department, assists other team members on the
unit and assists clinical staff with patient care.
Serves as part of the care team and therefore accountable for demonstrating behaviors and skills that support the success of the team. Supports
the objectives of Geisinger Medical Center in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports directly to the Clinic Nurse Coordinator and Operations Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in workload, staffing and scheduling.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
Demonstrates effective oral, written and computer communication skills.
Demonstrated office skills, proficient at electronic scanning.
Demonstrates a willingness to work in a team environment.
Demonstrates flexibility and ability maintain patient confidentiality.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and minimum of one year previous front-office experience in a medical setting preferred. Successful completion of
designated education curriculum for the unlicensed care associate and successful completion of orientation required. Successful completion of KAP
Certified BLS certification preferred or must obtain within 3 months of hire.
