As the state capitol and home of Florida State University, one thing's for sure, the area has all the perks (and youthful energy!) of a college town with the connectedness and economic benefits that come with being the center of state government — and a cost of living that won't break the bank. From a vibrant arts and culture scene to great sports' rivalries, Tallahassee offers residents plenty to cheer about. This capitol city boasts an abundance of outdoor recreation for all ages, a diverse foodie scene and a ton of family-friendly festivals and activities, not to mention 233 days of sunshine a year and the most beautiful beaches along the Gulf Coast located within an hour's drive. With all that it has to offer, it's no coincidence that Livability named Tallahassee one of the best places in the country to get a fresh start as well as one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2019, thanks to great weather, affordability and high-quality education.
