ChristianaCare is seeking a full time Bed Control Representative. By working with the Nursing Coordinators, this position is responsible for all bed assignment duties for patients/bed assignments through administrative tasks of Admissions, Discharges and Transfers.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides efficient census update of patients with information provided by nursing units.
Performs all transfer functions for patient care units, utilizing the Admissions, Discharges & Transfers (ADT) system.
Performs all discharge functions for patient care units, utilizing the ADT system.
Maintains an adequate amount of clerical supplies in a cost-effective manner.
Develops and maintains effective communication within the health care team (managers, staff, and admitting office personnel), patients and other staff within the ancillary departments.
Demonstrates awareness of self-learning needs and seeks ways to meet these in order to maintain current competency and respond to changing demands.
Responds to patient placement problems with significant service/department impact during crises.
Pursues opportunities to improve timeliness of patient placement and resolves identified problems.
Works constructively with other members of the health care team.
Participates in Joint Commission process as it relates to patient placement.
Facilitates assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to manager, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Course training in typing/computer data entry.
Knowledge of utilization and level of care requirements.
Knowledge of Soarian/ADT function.
HOURS: This is a full time position. These are rotating shifts, requiring Day, Evening and Midnight shift availability. There is some weekend shift requirement. Requires some holidays.
