Fairview Health Services is searching for enthusiastic RNs looking for a rewarding career in our busy Med/Surg Oncology Urology department located at our Edina, Minnesota campus. This position is a night position, 8 hour shifts with every other weekend. Benefit eligible.
Station 88 is an exciting 43 bed medical/surgical oncology urology unit and we have a fabulous team. We work hard together and have fun together. Our Oncology/Hematology patients are at varying stages of disease processes and our continuum of care includes diagnosis, treatment, palliation, and end of life care. Major treatment modalities (surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation) and minor treatment modalities (administration of biologic response modifiers, and hormone therapy) are provided.
Responsibilities / Job Description:
Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patients and familys diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.
Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by patients condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and reprioritizes care accordingly.
Pain Management including; administer medications, record, assess and observe patient progress, reactions and symptoms.
Establish and implement nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation, evaluation and discharge.
Organize, assign and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader; orient and teach new staff members of the nursing team and students.
Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and facility.
Participate in non-clinical assignments, which may include serving on special committees.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
Active MN RN License.
Current licensure in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare provider certification.
Communicate with and educate patients and families who come from a diverse background.
Evidence of 1 year of adult Med/Surg Oncology/Urology nursing experience within the past two years.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
Excellent customer service and communication.
Ability to perform nursing duties required for assigned clinical setting.
