As Rhode Island’s largest health system and private employer, Lifespan is dedicated to improving the way clinical care, medical research and education, and community services are delivered. Lifespan Specialty Pharmacy is seeking two Clinical Pharmacist Specialists to join our team.
As a part of the Lifespan Specialty Pharmacy team, you will ensure that Lifespan patients with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and other bleeding disorders have access to the vital clinical and administrative aspects of care. Working within our Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC), you will develop outpatient treatment plans and coordinate care with inpatient care teams. You will review patient orders, educate patients, perform clinical assessment calls and visits, and facilitate insurance verification, reimbursement and prior authorizations for HTC patients.
As a member of the Lifespan Specialty Pharmacy team within the Lifespan Cancer Institute (LCI), you will ensure that patients of the LCI have access to the vital clinical and administrative aspects of care. Working within the LCI, you will review outpatient treatment and maintenance plans, review oral chemotherapy orders, educate patients, perform clinical assessment calls and visits, and facilitate insurance verification, reimbursement and prior authorizations for LCI patients.
Both roles involve a significant role in formulary management and drug therapy protocol design, as well as many opportunities for collaboration with house staff from the Warren Alpert School of Medicine, Brown University.
Academic and teaching responsibilities for both roles may include serving as preceptor for advanced placement pharmacy students and post-graduate pharmacy residency programs, including our ASHP accredited PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy residency, as well as opportunities for adjunct faculty appointments at the Rhode Island College of Nursing, Johnson and Wales, and Bryant University.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and comparable work experience.
Post-graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency from an accredited program in area of specialty, if applicable strongly preferred
National board certification in area of specialty, if available, otherwise national board certification in pharmacotherapy preferred.
Maintains current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island.
