Cooks, at the WG-06 level, prepare and cook a variety of menu items, often cooking several items during a shift, including regular and modified diet entrees and dessert items. Food item recipes can be complex and from scratch. The cook is responsible for planning cooking processes to produce complete meals on time and at the proper temperature. Working alone or with a higher-grade cook, the employee coordinates workload and space for an efficient food production unit.
