This position is for a combined role of Unit Secretary and Patient Care Assistant for Full Time nights at our Central Campus
Unit Secretary - Records, transmits and/or files written and verbal communications to, from, and within the nursing unit to staff, patients, and physicians.Transcribes physicians� orders.Schedules and signs patients in and out for surgery, treatments, or tests as indicated.Orders and stores unit supplies.Makes necessary phone calls for special orders for doctors, patients or nurses.Maintains current and orderly chart files.Assembles patients� charts for transfers or discharges.Answers telephone or intercom.Records and relays messages.Greets, directs, and instructs visitors as necessary.Assist physicians in locating patients� charts and appropriate primary nurse.Prepare routine, confidential and/or special reports, documents and records.Assists with patient care/quality assurance audits.Performs general clerical duties on a nursing unit by preparing, compiling, and maintaining records in a hospital nursing unit.
Patient Care Assistant - Our Patient Care Assistants provides individualized, culture-specific patient care by attending to the personal needs and comfort of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists the professional or licensed nurse as delegated in tasks requiring less technical skills. Participates in shift and bedside report. Participates and supports regional, facility, department, and unit initiatives.
Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills; basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors and health care team members. Knowledge of patient rights, aseptic/sterile technique and infection control best practices.
Must meet qualifications for both positions
Qualifications:
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Required for Patient Care Assistant One year of experience in as a nursing assistant; or in lieu of experience, Current CNA certificate, or LNA license from the Arizona State Board of Nursing; or Completed block one/first year of nursing school; or Completion of formal PCA/PCT/CNA education program from an accredited institution.
Experience Unit Secretary Required: Must be familiar with medical terminology, and have experience with the use of a computer.
Previous experience as a Unit Secretary preferred. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current Certified Nursing Assistant , CNA or LNA license or meet minimum experience requirements. REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: Patient Care Assistant Program; EKG training in selected units.
