Overview
Atlantic Health System is seekinga Nurse Practitionerfor our Thoracic Surgery department at Morristown Medical Center. This position is a full time role, 4-10 hour days and every other Saturday morning to perform rounds. The successful candidate will have Thoracic Surgery experience (at least 2 years as an NP) and have flexibilityto travel to Overlook medical Center in Summit if necessary. Responsibilities
Rsponsibilites include:
Perform Assessments of Health Status - obtain relevant health history, perform screening evaluations in inpatient
and outpatient setting
Participate in diagnosis of Health Status and Develop Plans of Care and Implementations of Treatment
Outpatient Office Responsibilities include coordination of preoperative care of patients, ordering tests and
preoperative clearances, scheduling procedures, and providing psycho-social emotional support for patients
Assess patients pre and post operatively in the office and hospital setting and determine follow up treatment
Document in the medical record; patient office visits, office notes, post-operative notes, and discharge summaries for distribution to
collaborating and referring physicians
Employ a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and work collaboratively with other disciplines throughout the
system
Participate in Surgical Research Studies and assist in data collection
Participate in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
Participate as required in Department meetings and special projects including residency recruitment, faculty retreats,
surgical audit, and various social events
Other Tasks Which May be Required: On-call duties as required by department
Qualifications
RN, MSN, Advance Practice Nurse certification, BLS Certificaton
